Highlights for Wednesday, October 31: Everything Else

Happy #2There are numerous good books coming out this Wednesday in the Everything Else category, so we’ll just get right into it! Gotta start with Happy #2 from Image Comics. Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson took us on a pretty weird ride in the first issue and we have to imagine it’ll only get wilder (and better) from here!

HAPPY #2 (OF 4)
IMAGE COMICS

Written by Grant Morrison
Art by Darick Robertson

Trapped in a mob hospital at the mercy of the cold-eyed torture expert Smoothie and his team of dedicated sadists, the only hope for Nick Sax is Happy the Horse! With three days to Black Christmas, can our unlikely duo stay together long enough to stop Pedo-Santa’s rampage?

There are several other books coming from Image, too, including Whispers #4, the story of the young man who has the ability to go outside his body when he’s sleeping; and Fatale #9, which finds the second arc "The Devil’s Business" rushing toward its savage conclusion!

On the vertigo tip, look for American Vampire #32! It’s the penultimate chapter of "The Blacklist." After these events, things are going to be very bleak for our gal Pearl unless she can find something to hang her hat on.

And while we’re talking about mature readers imprints from the Big Two, let’s mention Hit-Girl #4 (of 5)! Mindy finally gets an ultimatum: No more Hit-Girl or else. But when danger lands on her doorstep, Hit-Girl may face her biggest challenge yet: not spilling blood on the living room carpet!

Rachel Rising #12Finally, I would be in hot water if I neglected to mention Rachel Rising #12! It’s one of the best books coming out today… which is why I didn’t punish it for lateness in the Best Books of the Month chart! (It  really wasn’t even late; it just got screwed by our post schedule.)

RACHEL RISING #12
ABSTRACT STUDIOS

Written and illustrated by Terry Moore

Jet struggles with a newfound killer instinct that she doesn’t want. Rachel is doing her best to keep her friend from racking up a body count as Det. Corpell keeps a suspicious eye on the pair. Nominated for 2 Eisner Awards, Terry Moore’s horror series is a highly praised, addictive must-read.
