Highlights for Wednesday, October 31: DC Comics

Swamp Thing Annual #1We knew going in that October would be a five-week month, and we have officially reached the fifth week! Which really just means a slightly smaller line-up of comics than normal, and the companies often do event books on that fifth week. As for DC, they went with Annuals! Four Annuals to be exact, starting with Swamp Thing!

SWAMP THING ANNUAL #1

Written by Scott Snyder, Scott Tuft
Art by Becky Cloonan

  • As "Rotworld" kicks into high gear in SWAMP THING and ANIMAL MAN, how the world fell to the Rot is revealed through the eyes of the event’s key players!
  • Written by Scott Snyder and Scott Tuft, events only hinted at before are fully brought to life, even as a world is taken by the force of death.

Next up is Action Comics Annual #1! The secrets of the "missing five years" between when Clark Kent came to Metropolis and the present day continue to be revealed! And in the wake of Brainiac’s attack on Metropolis, Superman faces his first Earth-born villain: the Kryptonite Man!

We’re also looking forward to Justice League Dark Annual #1. This one picks right up from issue #13 and marks the big finale to Jeff Lemire’s first epic story! We’re promised guest appearances by Frankenstein and, from the new series Sword of Sorcery, Amethyst!

Aquaman #13The fourth and final Annual is Batgirl Annual #1! Look for a little Catwoman action and a match-up against what appears to be a female Talon from the Court of Owls!

But Annuals aren’t the only titles in DC’s line-up for the week. Aquaman #13 marks the beginning of the new year for that title, and judging by the cover it looks like just about everyone who’s been in the series so far will be packed into this issue! (Except for maybe those black fish things from the first story arc.)

AQUAMAN #13

Written by Geoff Johns
Art by Ivan Reis, Joe Prado

The finale of "The Others." Aquaman pushed to the breaking point! Who is Black Manta working for?
