Highlights for Wednesday, October 3: Marvel Comics

Daredevil: End of Days #1Obviously, the big Marvel release of the week is Avengers vs. X-Men #12 (of 12), and we’ll talk about that one soon enough. But first things first! This week also marks the start of a very cool new series called Daredevil: End of Days! It’s a look into Daredevil’s future as brought to you by some of the biggest names in comics. Looks pretty cool, especially considering the amount of talent on board. Bendis has written some of the greatest Daredevil stories ever, while David Mack, Klaus Janson and Bill Sienkiewicz are likewise important names in old Hornhead’s history.

Revealed at last…how it ends for the Man without Fear! In the near future, investigative reporter Ben Urich has one last story to write – what was Matt Murdock’s the final secret? A story years in the making brought to you by some of the greatest creators in Daredevil history!

On the AVX front, aside from the main title itself, is Uncanny X-Men #19. Last issue was one of the coolest of the AVX books, with Scott and Emma having dinner in their minds while they fight against every superhero on Earth with their bodies. This issue promises to focus on the one and only Hope. She’s on the run for her life, but can she outrun destiny?

Minimum Carnage: Alpha #1Finally, there’s Minimum Carnage Alpha #1, which kicks off the Minimum Carnage crossover event! Beginning with this week’s Alpha issue and running through Venom and Scarlet Spider for two months before concluding in Minimum Carnage Omega, the storyline sees a newly sprung Cletus Kasady doing what he does best: killing. However, the villain seems to be dancing to someone else’s directions this time.

"I think it’s safe to say that fans will recognize Carnage in this story, in all his insane, horrific, murderous glory,” writer Christopher Yost said before adding a significant caveat. “[But] Carnage is a victim here. A pawn in a much larger game. And frankly, after the events of the last few Carnage limited series, he’s looking for a fresh start." Check it out!
