Highlights for Wednesday, October 24: Marvel Comics

Wolverine MAX #1 Marvel comes to the table this week with a brand new Marvel MAX series, Wolverine MAX! Generally speaking, most of the series that have come out under the Marvel MAX imprint have been pretty solid. (And of course some of the Punisher stuff ranks up there with our all-time favorite comics EVER.) So we’ll definitely be checking this one out. It’s not even a mini-series either! Expect blood, guts and cussing!

WOLVERINE MAX #1

But while Wolverine MAX is just beginning, numerous Marvel titles see their final issues this week as we head toward Marvel NOW! For instance, Incredible Hulk #15, Captain America #19 and Invincible Iron Man #527 all mark the finale for their respective series.

AVX Consequences #3 Journey into Mystery #645 is also an end, but not for the series, just for the "Everything Burns" Story arc! And for Kieron Gillen’s run on the title, which has without a doubt been superb. We wish him well in the Marvel NOW! pantheon!

Speaking of Kieron Gillen… Finally there’s AVX: Consequences #3 (of 5). This weekly mini-series has been a hot ticket over the past couple weeks, as we see Cyclops imprisoned for his crimes against the world through the course of Avengers vs. X-Men. I just opened up to a random page and [not a spoiler] Cyclops was in the middle of a big old prison brawl!
