Highlights for Wednesday, October 10: Marvel Comics

AVX Consequences #1Avengers vs. X-Men may have come to its conclusion last week in Avengers vs. X-Men #12, but there is still a bit more that needs to be said in the wake of everything that happened. And A LOT happened. That said, we’re anxious to see what’s in AVX Consequences #1 this week.

AVX CONSEQUENCES #1 (OF 5)

After the biggest comic event of the year comes to its stunning conclusion, the Marvel Universe is left reeling — enter Avengers VS. X-Men: Consequences. This powerful weekly five issue limited series from acclaimed writer Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-Men, upcoming Iron Man) and five of the most dynamic artists in the industry shows just what happens to the Marvel Universe after the dust settles from Avengers VS. X-Men. Who will survive? Can the Avengers and X-Men ever peacefully co-exist again? And what is the fate of Cyclops? The answers arrive here!

Also falling under the AVX banner is Wolverine and the X-Men #18! Not exactly sure where it’s going to fall in the overall story, but it almost doesn’t matter; this title is good enough that we’ll cut them a little slack on it.

We’re a little sad to see Fantastic Four #611 arrive. It’s the final issue of the series! Jonathan Hickman’s stellar run finally comes to its end. But where there is an end there must be a beginning. We can only look forward to what Marvel NOW! has in store for the First Family.

Brian Wood’s outstanding run on X-Men continues in X-Men #37! The Storm-Cyclops divide widens as the team starts to unravel. Meanwhile, Colossus has his own agenda… will he leave the team to pursue it? Loving how everyone on the team is being written in this one, especially Storm.

Marvel Universe vs. The Avengers #1Next up is Red She-Hulk #58! It’s the start of a brand new Marvel NOW! ongoing series springing from the title formerly known simply as Hulk. The Earth’s strongest female set on a path of destruction! Like Uncanny Avengers #1, which also comes out this week, we’ve got some pretty cool variant covers for this one.

Last up, it’s Marvel Universe vs. The Avengers #1! No idea what to expect from this one, but the past few takes on this premise we’ve totally loved.

MARVEL UNIVERSE VS AVENGERS #1 (OF 4)

Written by Jonathan Maberry
Art by Leandro Fernandez

In MARVEL UNIVERSE VS THE PUNISHER we journeyed through the ruins of our world. In the Bram Stoker Award-nominated MARVEL UNIVERSE vs. WOLVERINE we witnessed the fall. MARVEL UNIVERSE VS THE AVENGERS is the war. Some worlds can’t be saved. All worlds can be avenged.
