Death of the Family Begins!
This week sees the beginning of one of the most highly anticipated events of the year: Death of the Family! In this storyline, one of the most notorious villains in comic book history makes his return to The New 52. Of course we’re talking about the one and only Joker, who will come out of the dark in a horrifying, unnerving, and huge way. And the grave consequences of his reemergence will be felt by not only the Bat-family, but by all of Gotham City. It all begins this week in Batgirl #13, which acts as a prelude, and Batman #13!

The Joker returns in “Death of the Family”! He crippled Batgirl. He killed Robin. What will The Joker do now that he’s returned to Gotham City? What must Batman do to protect his secret identity and that of those who fight alongside him?
Yes, the cover does look much different than the promo images we’ve seen — which had Joker looking at himself in a mirror — but it’s still pretty cool. The Joker’s face is a die-cut overlay and the back features a full checklist for the event. It’s also worth noting that the Batgirl #13 cover looks remarkably similar, so don’t get confused when you see them together.
