Best Book of the Week Poll – October 12

It may have been the conclusion to the biggest comic book event of the year so far, but boy did it get a solid beat down in last week’s poll! I am of course talking about Avengers vs. X-Men #12, which, along with getting beat in the poll, also provoked some serious ire in your comments! But no matter, because I’m not sure anything could have stopped Detective Comics #13. It was the first issue of John Layman’s run and it looks like we’re in for one heck of a ride there. It was awesome!

As for this week, Batman once again might rule the day. Rusty called it the best book of the week in his post, and it might well be. But there was also a fantastic issue of Before Watchmen: Dr. Manhattan #2 (which might get my vote; I loved it), while Punk Rock Jesus was once again a total mind blower and Uncanny Avengers #1 got Marvel NOW! off the ground. So…

While I think Batman was the best book this week, I’m a bit shocked there wasn’t even a mention of Batgirl. She finally sucked it up and kicked some butt instead of being a door mat all while introducing the Joker back into Gotham.

I liked it, not as much as Batman with the Harley mini-story, but I liked it.

  • Nothing can stop the Batman train and it is well deserved, although I could make an argument that Punk Rock Jesus deserves number one.

Andy K – Batgirl was okay, but it was not connect with Death of the Family enough to deserve the Die Cut cover, hell Batman and Robin mentioned the Joker more then Batgirl did.

Why is Barbara a girl and Kate Kane a woman?
