Highlights for Wednesday, September 12: Marvel Comics

Wolverine and the X-Men #16As I mentioned in the shipping list post, one of the things I noticed about the list of Marvel Comics — aside from Avengers vs. X-Men #11, which we’ll discuss shortly — was the sheer number of X-Men team books that are coming out this week! I counted seven of them: X-Men #35, X-Men Legacy #273, Uncanny X-Force #31, Uncanny X-Men #18, Ultimate Comics X-Men #16, X-Treme X-Men #3 and Wolverine and the X-Men #16 (which ties in to the aforementioned AVX)!

AVX TIE-IN! The Hellfire Club is on the run from Cyclops and rest of the Phoenix Five. How does an anti-mutant organization operate in a mutant-run world?

Also look for a veritable murderers row of Marvel Heroes books, including Captain America #17, Winter Soldier #10, Fantastic Four #610, Journey into Mystery #642 and Incredible Hulk #13! Hopefully we’ll get to the bottom of Banner’s plan to eliminate the Hulk once and for all!

New Avengers #30On the Avengers front, there’s  Avengers Assemble #7. The Avengers are hot on the heels of Thanos as they try to stop his quest for intergalactic power. But when the Mad Titan has a cosmic cube in his possession, Earth’s Mightiest will have to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to defeat him. Can their combined might stop Thanos’ conquest? I GOTTA KNOW!

Finally, there’s New Avengers #30. Since we gave one of the picture spots to an X-Men family AVX book, we gotta give the other one to an Avengers family AVX book. That’s my reasoning and I’m sticking to it!
