This week’s Everything Else Highlights reel is led off by one of our favorites, Image Comics’ Chew! It’s been a few months since we’ve seen an issue of Chew (and even longer if you consider that the last issue was a second printing in its own way), but no matter. Chew #28 comes out this week! Viva Poyo!

"SPACE CAKES," Part Three. Remember last story arc when Tony Chu got kidnapped? This issue he gets kidnapped again! How lame is that? Meanwhile, we shamelessly pander to comics’ coveted "furry" demographic.
Also from Image this week, look for Manhattan Projects #6. The first trade paperback, collecting the first five issues, just came out a couple weeks ago. So if you picked that up and are looking for the next issue, here it is!
Moving over to Dark Horse, there’s Brian Wood’s Conan the Barbarian #8! Conan and Belit continue to make a go of it in Conan’s homeland of Cimmeria… even if things aren’t going so well for Belit.
Also by Brian Wood, and also from Dark Horse, is Massive #4. The search for the missing ship goes on! As does Callum Israel’s struggle to maintain his moral code in a new world where survival requires working within the gray area.
Over at Vertigo, look for Punk Rock Jesus #3! Recently written up by the ever-enlightening Andy B. (not to mention approved by Andy King), this series has been outstanding. To quote myself, "I just wanted to give it a special shout… because A) it’s easily one of the most interesting comics going right now, and B) we got more copies of the first two issues in stock." Check it out!
Last but certainly not least is American Vampire: Lord of Nightmares #4 (of 5). One of our favorites, we talk about it all the time. And this mini-series has been yet another fantastic chapter in one of the best titles in comics.

Felicia has done everything she can to protect her son Gus from her bloody past, but as their quest to capture and kill the most powerful vampire of all time builds to its terrible conclusion, she realizes protecting him from the past might be impossible – and the truth might be the key to their survival.

The “Everything Else” section is by far my favorite since this is where many surprises are just waiting to be found. That’s right, from the hodgepodge comes the likes of Rachel Rising, Punk Rock Jesus, and several fan favorites that I don’t read. Lets not forget the formidable Jennifer Blood who, according to Rusty, no one reads.
Let me tell you, I read Jennifer Blood, she kicks posterior, invents ways to inflict pain, and rampages teams of assassins. Garth Ennis should have used some of the abundant action from that title to liven up The Shadow. Instead he’s gone after 6 issues from a title I stopped reading a few issues back. I guess “only the Shadow know’s” how it will all turn out.
This weeks list looks promising and I’m mentioned in the write up, haha, I approve this message.
It has been pointed out to me that while we haven’t gotten an issue of Chew in the past few months, we HAVE gotten a Secret Agent Poyo one shot. So it’s a little unfair to say we haven’t seen any Chew. And that’s totally true. Mea Culpa! — Andy B.
