After a month-long wait, it’s good to see Avengers vs. X-Men #11 (of 12) on this week’s list! Can’t wait to see what Cyclops and Emma, not to mention Hope, have up their sleeves. Also from Marvel, look out for a whole SLEW of X-Men team books: X-Men #35, X-Men Legacy #273, Uncanny X-Force #31, Uncanny X-Men #18, Ultimate Comics X-Men #16 and X-Treme X-Men #3! Also look for New Avengers #30, Captain America #17, Incredible Hulk #13 (following up the Best Book of the Month) and much more!
As for DC, Zero Month moves right along with Batman #0, Batman and Robin #0, Batgirl #0, Resurrection Man #0, Superboy #0, and the newly debuting series, part of the New 52 Third Wave, Team 7 #0! Fans of the Shade will also be excited to see the final issue of that series in Shade #12 (of 12). And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Before Watchmen: Comedian #3 (of 6), a series whose second issue really made things interesting and makes us want to read more! And of course the Vertigo line-up is solid, with American Vampire: Lord of the Vampires #4 (of 5), Punk Rock Jesus #3 (of 6) and Saucer Country #7 (hope it’s as good as Saucer Country #6).
The biggest of the Non-Big Two books for us is Chew #28 from Image! Look forward to it every time. We’re also looking forward to Stumptown Vol. 2 #1 by Greg Rucka, the first volume of which was a fantastic, gritty-as-heck crime story.
The full list follows!

September 9th, 2012 at 11:00 am - Looking Forward -
I mentioned in last month’s Looking Forward: Marvel post that Marvel NOW! is coming. Lots of new #1′s, all-new creative teams and what will surely make for a big old shake-up in the Marvel Universe. What you’ll see in today’s column is basically all the new Marvel NOW! series that are set to kick off in November! Starting with the biggest: All New X-Men #1.
ALL NEW X-MEN #1
Written by Brian Michael Bendis
Art by Stuart Immonen
It’s a blast from the past as the original five students of Professor X – Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Angel and Beast – are plucked from the past and brought to the present. But what they find, the state that their future selves are in and the state of Xavier’s dream, is far from the future they dreamed of. And how will the X-Men of the present deal with their past coming crashing forward?
Wow! Sounds pretty weird. So the "All New X-Men" are in fact the "Oldest Possible X-Men"? Ha. But seriously, we still don’t know how Avengers vs. X-Men will finish up, and I have to think that will have major ramifications for this series and for the rest of the Marvel Universe. Hard to know what to expect! But I for one have always loved the original line-up, as evidenced by the wicked Steve Rude X-Men print framed and hanging in my living room. I really hope that Bendis, more known for his work with the Avengers, will knock this one out of the park.
