Highlights for Wednesday, August 8: Everything Else

Not sure how Andy handles the DC Vertigo books. Whether he includes them in the DC section or the Everything Else section. I put them in my Everything Else pile when I read them, so I’m putting them here today. And Vertigo has a rocking week coming our way. I’m sure AMERICAN VAMPIRE LORD OF NIGHTMARES #3 (OF 5) will be fantastic, get nominated on Thursday and be a contender for Best Book of the Week. FAIREST #6 will wrap up the story of the Snow Queen, Jonah the bottle imp, Ali Baba and Sleeping Beauty and I can’t wait to see how it ends. The first issue of Punk Rock Jesus was also excellent and I will happily take more PUNK ROCK JESUS #2 (OF 6) this week!

Not to be outdone, Dark Horse comics is also bringing the heat this week. Brian Wood has two books coming out. Couldn’t recommend CONAN THE BARBARIAN #7 enough. The first three issues set the stage. The last three issues told us an awesome, capture, escape, robbery, gladiator fighting story. Very curious as to where it goes from here. Also getting the MASSIVE #3 this week. Liked the first issue more than the second but definitely still reading at this point. Add in BTVS SEASON 9 FREEFALL #12 which I always enjoy and don’t think enough of you are willing to try! Plus a brand new Star Wars mini-series LOST TRIBE O/T SITH SPIRAL #1 (OF 5) for Dark Horse this week.

Other than that I got my eye on IT GIRL & THE ATOMICS #1 from Image comics and Valiant’s newest offering ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #1. And I would be remiss not to mention the SCOTT PILGRIM COLOR HC VOL 01 (OF 6). Scotty Pilgrim is getting re-released. In color. In hardcover. Just for all you Scotty Pilgrim fans!
