Highlights for Wednesday, July 18: Everything Else

Saga #5This week, there’s only one place to start for the Everything Else highlights, and that’s Saga #5 from Image Comics and writer Brian K. Vaughan. As I mentioned on Sunday, issue #4 was voted to be the best comic book of June and the series overall was likewise voted as the best current ongoing series!

SAGA #5
IMAGE COMICS

Written by Brian K. Vaughan
Art by Fiona Staples

The smash hit ongoing series from Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples continues, as Prince Robot IV’s hunt for Hazel and her parents takes a deadly turn.

Also look for the latest issue in Terry Moore’s tale of the undead (though not exactly zombies) in Rachel Rising #9. Rachel’s ability to predict a person’s time of death is useful when tracking a serial killer in Manson, but the unwelcome news also proves be a powerful weapon against even the hardest of hearts. Expect Rachel to take creepy to whole new level!

Cobra Ongoing #15Finally, it’s a solid week for IDW Publishing! First up is Mars Attacks #2. I loved the first issue, though I am admittedly an easy sell on that one. The first stories of an all-new Mars Attacks universe writer John Layman (Chew) and artist John McCrea (Hitman)!

Then there’s one of our all-time favorite series with Cobra Ongoing #15! It’s one of the most consistently good comics out there and we still wholeheartedly recommend it.

COBRA ONGOING #15

Written by Mike Costa
Art by Antonio Fuso

The lies and betrayals keep adding up, as Flint struggles to maintain his honor amidst his team of scoundrels and backstabbers. And is the information that Tomax has been supplying really on the level? Of course not… but what game is he playing?
