Highlights for Wednesday, August 1: Marvel Comics

Avengers vs X-Men #9Andy is on vacation! Marvel looks to have a very good week headed our way. Let’s take a look at them ALL!

HAWKEYE #1 is easily the most anticipated book of the week. Heck I’ve been waiting for months! David Aja is fantastic and if he can put his Iron Fist spin on Hawkeye we just might have a bona fide hit on our hands. I can’t wait to read it!

Of course the hottest book in the universe right now is AVENGERS VS X-MEN #9 (OF 12). We just keep selling it and selling it. Seems like somebody new comes in every other day and "gets caught up" on AVX. But you’re already caught up and ready for round number 9! Spider-man is in some serious trouble. He doesn’t appear to be doing too well on the cover of Peter Parker either! Poor Spidey!

These I read every month.
AVENGING SPIDER-MAN #10 – The second part of Carol Danvers, the new Captain Marvel! Captain Marvel #1 sold out quick. If you need more Captain Marvel action, it’s right here!
DAREDEVIL #16 – I’m sure will be awesome as usual.
DEFENDERS #9 – I’m sure will be slightly confusing and erratic as usual but I keep trying.
FURY MAX #5 – Just keeps getting better and better with each subsequent issue!
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #522 – I do seem to be flipping through Iron Man issues lately. Marvel Now can’t come too soon as far as Iron Man is concerned.
X-FACTOR #241 – Has been a very solid book for probably the last year or so after going through a rough patch a couple of years ago.
X-MEN #33 - Has been fantastic since Brian Wood took over with issue #30. Hearing plenty of positive comments. Especially how Storm is being portrayed.

Peter Parker #156.1Couple of new series to check out.
DEADPOOL KILLS MARVEL UNIVERSE #1 (OF 4) – Deadpool is gonna kill the Marvel Universe! Does that mean all the DC fans will be buying this book?
FIRST X-MEN #1 (OF 5) – Hype central! Neal Adams! I actually dare you to buy this one. Batman Odyssey was so bad. I dare you! I’m a little scared to even read it.
PETER PARKER SPIDER-MAN #156.1- The first of a half-dozen or so Spider-man 50th Anniversary issues. And I have no idea what to expect. Fingers crossed!

Which only leaves AGE OF APOCALYPSE #6 and AVENGERS ACADEMY #34 which I don’t really read.

And we did not get any copies of ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #13 this week. They were missing from the shipment today. Sorry. You’ll have to wait a week for that one.

Could see five, six or even seven Marvel books potential getting nominated this week. It’s a small but powerful lineup!

See ya!

Rusty
