(Guest columnist Jason R. is filling in for regular Best Covers columnist Andy B. this week. If you, too, have an interest in writing a Best Covers column — perhaps because you think you could do a better job… to which I say, GOOD LUCK, CHUM — just send us an email!)
Happy Independence Day, everybody! Hope you’re all having fun at your cookouts, parades and firework viewings. Cosmic Comix laid down the gauntlet last week for someone to try and write a better Best Covers column than Andy B. so I thought I would give it my shot this week.
ACTION COMICS #11
Cover by Rags Morales
This is a great cover because not only is it a great action shot, but it makes you wonder what happened prior to Superman being engulfed in flames. From the looks of the cover it seems that Superman was first caught in this fire as Clark Kent instead of Superman, evidenced by the Clark clothes being burned off of Superman and Clark’s glasses in his left hand. Did someone attack the Daily Planet with Clark inside? Was someone directly trying to attack Clark? Can you imagine the look on the person’s face that thought they were attacking Clark Kent, and then Superman comes out of the fire, looking pretty mad?
