New comics do indeed come out on Wednesday this week! Even with the July 4th holiday! Check out our store hours for the day.

We’ll start things off this week with a little DC Comics action. For starters, look for the fifth title in the Before Watchmen series, Before Watchmen: Ozymandias! Written by original series editor Len Wein with art by the great Jae Lee. Also look out for the Batman Earth One HC from Geoff Johns! The first Earth One release (Superman, by J. Michael Straczynski) was a big hit and we expect this one to do just as well, if not better. Other noteworthy books include Earth 2 #3, Action Comics #11, Animal Man #11, World’s Finest #3 and, from Vertigo, Fairest #5 and Sweet Tooth #35!

Over at Marvel, the big release is obviously Avengers vs. X-Men #7 (of 12). The five Phoenixes (Phoneices?) are doing the darndest to make the world a better place… by any means necessary! Other than that, a somewhat lighter week for the House of Ideas. Look for Uncanny X-Men #15, Wolverine #310, Age of Apocalypse #5 and X-Factor #239 to represent the X-books, with Punisher #13, Hulk #55, Amazing Spider-Man #689 and Invincible Iron Man #520 being the hero books for the week!

Over at Image it’s a double Invincible week as we get Invincible #93 and the next TPB Invincible Vol. 16: Family Ties (keeping in line with all the other trades in the series and their 1980s sitcom names). Also from Image, Spawn #221 and Thief of Thieves #5! Meanwhile, IDW comes to the table with The Cape 1969 #1 (of 4) and Rocketeer Adventures 2 #4 (of 4)!
