Highlights for Wednesday, June 13: Marvel Comics

AVX Vs. #3We hope you’ve been enjoying the Avengers vs. X-Men event as much as we have. It may not be what Philip Seymour Hoffman in Almost Famous would call a "think piece," but it’s been totally fun. Fights and lots of ‘em! And that’s what brings us to this week’s AVX Vs. #3 (of 6). It’s the third installment of the supplemental mini-series that focuses ONLY on the fights. The first two issues were totally entertaining and we’re hoping the third one keeps it up.

  • All fights, All the time!
  • Black Widow vs. Magik!
  • Colossus vs. Thing!

There are a couple other Avengers vs. X-Men tie-in’s this week, as well, including Avengers #27, X-Men Legacy #268! The latter in particular has been very strong through this event.

It’s also a solid week for the one and only webcrawler, Spider-Man! For one thing, there’s Amazing Spider-Man #687, which brings "Ends of the Earth" to a mighty close. There’s also Scarlet Spider #6, a couple different Spider-Man collections, and the highly anticipated Spider-Men #1 (which we’ll talk about in a bit)!

Captain America #13We’ve also been enjoying the "Stay Angry" storyline in Incredible Hulk so we’ll definitely be reading Incredible Hulk #13 this week. The past couple issues have each included an unforgettable two-page montage of Hulk being Hulk. Can’t wait to see what’s in store with this issue. Also, in case you were wondering, no Steve Dillon on the art this time around; they’ve handed the reins to Pasqual Ferry.

Finally, we have to give a shout to Captain America #13. It’s the third part of the "Shock to the System" story arc, which has been fantastic so far and brought the title back from a brief down period. Look out for Demolition Man!
