Harbinger #1

Harbinger #1This Wednesday sees the return of another classic Valiant character! Looks like Harbinger will once again follow Peter Stanchek as he travels across the country on the run from the evil Toyo Harada.

Said writer Joshua Dysart: "The idea of really getting a chance to dig in and build an epic mythology populated by a fully-realized cast of characters, all centered around Jim Shooter and David Lapham’s original premise, is super-exhilarating to me. I’ve been looking for a book to write that could be dark, weird, trippy, fun, real, unreal, violent and thematically ambitious. All the things I look for in fantastic fiction myself. Harbinger is that book, so I’m pretty damn excited about it."

HARBINGER (ONGOING) #1
VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT

Written by Joshua D. M. Dysart
Art by Khari Evans

Read Minds, Bend Steel, Break All The Rules.

Teenager Peter Stenchek is out of work, on the skids, and — unbeknownst to him — a psionic-powered "harbinger" with the potential to reshape the course of human history. Toyo Harada is a wealthy business magnate, a respected philanthropist, and the most powerful harbinger of all — or so he thought. As they forge an uneasy alliance, with Harada offer Peter a chance for redemption — or attempt to induct him into a secret network of conspiracy, subversion, and control? Peter is about to discover that he’s not alone in the world and, soon, the generation who has nothing will take on the man who has everything.

Valiant Entertainment’s Harbinger #1 comes out on Wednesday!

Highlights for Wednesday, June 6: Everything Else

Secret #2We’ll lead off this week’s highlights in the Everything Else department with Image Comics! The publisher has numerous titles worth mentioning this week, not the least of which is Secret #2 from writer Jonathan Hickman. The first issue (which we do have in stock) was very interesting. As Rusty said, "It’s basically about a private security firm that is blackmailing (?) one company, while at the same time trying to infiltrate (?) another company. Don’t know what their end game is but I really, really liked it."

Prestige Format Comics (Plus Variants and More) for $2.00!

Whiz BangUPDATE: We have now added even more to the $2.00 table at the front of the store! Most notably is the box of VARIANT COVERS! But we have also added back issues of ToyFare and some other magazines and books, too! To quote the paperboy from Better Off Dead… TWO DOLLARS!

Last week we rolled out a Whiz Bang featuring Mini-Series for $2.00, which made many, many of our back issue mini-series collections available for a measly two bucks! Well, this week we’re keeping the $2.00 train rolling by adding PRESTIGE FORMAT COMICS in to the mix! We’ve got dozens upon dozens of them and we’re just gonna put them out there on the same table with the mini-series. We’re making it a massive $2.00 party! Here’s the deal:

  • Along with the back issue mini-series collections from last week’s Whiz Bang AND the trade paperbacks we added later in the week, we’re adding Prestige Format comics and they’re all gonna be $2.00 each! From today, Monday , May 28, through Tuesday, June 5 Saturday, June 9!

If you’ve never heard of Prestige Format books, here’s the deal: Prestige Format refers to the larger square-bound comic books that are generally 64 pages long, instead of the usual 32 pages. When it was originally released, The Killing Joke was a Prestige format story. So these books are BIG and they often have stories on a scale that’s just as big.

So once again, the big table up at the front of the store is loaded with boxes FULL of Prestige Format sized comic books AND mini-series sets, and they are on sale for just $2.00 each! Updated photo!
