Anticipation has been building and building for DC Comics’ next major Batman story NIGHT OF THE OWLS! We met the Court of Owls in the opening story arc of Batman and their war against the Dark Knight been consistently one of the best ongoing monthly stories in all of comics. Now, it looks like the Court of Owls is taking the fight to the rest of Gotham City! In fact, many of this week’s DC books featured the pictured ad/checklist (click to enlarge) and it looks like it’s gonna be pretty epic, crossing over not just Batman, but also Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, Birds of Prey, Batman and Robin and even All-Star Western!
Said Batman writer Scott Snyder, “As I was working on the story, I realized there was a point in issue #9 where the attack that the Owls were going to launch against Gotham was so big and so broad that we had to at least address where the other Bat characters were. So I talked to Mike and told him that there was an opportunity to play in if they wanted to. From there, we tried to make an event where each writer or each team working on the Bat books could look at their story lines and decide if they wanted to organically tie it in.”
We’ll give DC the last word on the subject:
The “Night of the Owls” is coming this May, pitting the extended Bat-family against the deadly Court of Owls. A shadowy secret society with roots that date back to Gotham City’s earliest history, the Court employs a cadre of timeless, sinister assassins known as Talons to execute its malevolent will.
Look for the Night of Owls to get started in April and kick into high gear in May!
