Fatale #1

Fatale #1The crime noir collaborations between writer Ed Brubaker and artist Sean Phillips have been, without using too much hyperbole, unbelievably awesome and completely and utterly fantastic. This week, we’re happy to report, sees the start of a new series for the duo, beginning in Image Comics’ Fatale #1! But, whereas their previous work on titles like Criminal and Incognito has tended to lean more realistic, Fatale leaps headlong into horror!

"I’ve been wanting for a while to do something with a more supernatural element to it," Brubaker said recently. "So Fatale mixes what we do and all the ways we’ve poked fun at the noir genre. If Incognito was us doing ‘What if Doc Savage, Dashiell Hammet and Raymond Chandler had all existed in the same universe?’ then this is a weird combo of James M. Cain and Lovecraft. It’s got a real horror element to it — the first time I’ve really tried to do anything with horror — but it’s also got this really epic story to it."

Fatale blends noir and horror to tell a riveting epic unlike anything you’ve seen before.
