Fear Itself, Flashpoint Dominate

Fear Itself #4The two biggest events in comics right now — FEAR ITSELF and FLASHPOINT — are rolling deep in this week’s line-up of new comics, so much so that we had to point out exactly what you can expect. We’ll start it off, in alphabetical order (though just barely), with Fear Itself.

For starters, there is of course the newest issue of the main title, Fear Itself #4 (of 7)! I guess we’ll see what happens to Bucky after the unfortunate events of last issue…

FEAR ITSELF #4 (OF 7)

Written by Matt Fraction
Penciled by Stuart Immonen

The blockbuster Marvel event of the year continues! AFTERMATH: the heroes reel in the wake of last issue’s shocking finale. Thor finds himself unwelcome in two homes. Steve Rogers makes the decision of a lifetime. And Iron Man prepares to make the ultimate sacrifice. Every move the heroes make just serves to make The Serpent stronger– and the feat he accomplishes in this issue will rock the Avengers.

But that’s not all! Not by a long shot. We’re also set to get the following: Fear Itself Uncanny X-Force #1 (of 3), Fear Itself Wolverine #1 (of 3) and Fear Itself Youth in Revolt #3 (of 6), PLUS the following tie-in’s: Heroes for Hire #9, Thunderbolts #160, and Uncanny X-Men #540! As I say in the subject line, Fear Itself is simply DOMINATING the Marvel landscape this week.

Flashpoint #3Meanwhile, over at DC the story is of course Flashpoint! Starting with the main title of that event, Flashpoint #3.

FLASH QUESTION: Will Flash and his new allies be able to fix the world?

DC isn’t quite as forthcoming with the solicitation info as Marvel. But, nevertheless, we are looking forward to this one just as much as Fear Itself. Barry Allen gave himself the old Frankenstein treatment last issue to get his powers back and we’d love to see where it goes from there.

We’re also set to get four other Flashpoint titles, starting with Flashpoint: Batman – Knight of Vengeance #2 (of 3), by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso. The first issue set this one apart as a very cool, noir story of Thomas Wayne as Batman and we absolutely loved it. Also look for Flashpoint Abin Sur the Green Lantern #2 (of 3), Flashpoint Secret Seven #2 (of 3) and Flashpoint: The World of Flashpoint #2 (of 3)!

All these Fear Itself and Flashpoint issues come out on Wednesday!

New Comics This Wednesday, Jul. 6

Chew #19The big story for this week is EVENTS and lots of ‘em. On the DC side of the aisle, look for four Flashpoint books, including Flashpoint #3, Abin Sur The Green Lantern #2, Batman Knight of Vengeance #2 and Secret Seven #2! Over at Marvel, the event is of course Fear Itself, and we’ll be getting Fear Itself #4, Fear Itself: Uncanny X-Force #1, Fear Itself: Wolverine #1 and Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #3, plus multiple tie-in books!

From other publishers, look for Chew #19 (Image), GI Joe Vol. 2 Ongoing #3 (IDW), The Boys #56 (Dynamite).

Plus, there are several trade paperbacks of interest comics out, including the long-awaited Kick-Ass, Northlanders Vol. 5 and Locke & Key Vol. 3!
