Scalped #49

Scalped #49Scalped cracks me up.

The first major story arc ended with Scalped #34. A book of the month winner which put a cap on all the events since issue #1. It was a beautiful thing. And ever since then they have been rebuilding the characters, situation and setting as we move onto the second major story arc, which we are currently in.

That’s the strength of Scalped. Everything that happens matters. Introduce this, expand on that, it all ties together.

Now, I’ve been semi-bustin’ on Scalped lately.  Calling it "so 2010." It was the #1 comic here at Cosmic Comix for 2010. Don’t talk about it quite so much here in 2011.

Why? Cause it’s been building the plot! Scalped #45. "You Gotta Sin to Get Saved" Part One came out on January 26. SCALPED #49. The conclusion, part five, to "You Gotta Sin to get Saved" came out this week. And it was also a beautiful thing. Not as good as Scalped #34. As I said that wrapped up a 34-issue story. But ended this story arc wonderfully while still laying the groundwork to continue the second major story arc.

Hope that makes sense. Scalped does operate on many levels. Enjoy it as a one shot, a single story arc, or most importantly as a whole. It is easily the most multi-dimensional, in depth, thought out, things happen that matter, comic coming out today.

Simply Scalped! Crazy not to read it. And for all of you that do… simply enjoy!

See ya!

Best Book of the Week Poll – Jun. 10

With last week’s poll, Flashpoint proves itself to be a true contender, going two for two in poll victories! In fact, the event took two of the top three spots, with Fear Itself coming in second and Flashpoint: Batman – Knight of Vengeance #1 coming in third!

We’re very curious to see how the poll shapes up this week. At first glance, there are no clear favorites; no monster book that overshadows everything else. There are, however, numerous books that are just straight up quality. Like, Punishermax #14 and Scalped #49! We also got the dramatic conclusion of Terry Moore’s sci-fi epic in Echo #30! Plus a couple more Flashpoint mini’s, a big old X-Men Legacy #250, a most excellent start to the American Vampire mini-series and more! So…
