Marvel rocked it out in what was a very good week of comics. Onto the Nominees!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #658  – The Human Torch has died. He asked Spider-Man to take his place. But the Fantastic Four is no more. Welcome to tomorrow. Welcome to the Future Foundation. And I’m totally digging it as Spidey goes on his first adventure with the FF in this issue. Did get into what costume Spidey should be wearing. Did get into the Reed/Peter scientist angle. Loved the Carlie Cooper bits. She’s a smart cookie. And the artwork by Javier Pulido was awesome as usual.

GI JOE VOL 2 #0 – Yep. All set-up. Great set-up  Great jumping on point. And don’t worry about getting to know all the GI Joe characters. The Cobra council has decided that whoever kills the most Joe’s will be the new Cobra Commander and they are already dropping like flies! Try it! You’ll like it!

HELLBOY BUSTER OAKLEY GETS HIS WISH – Was just weird. Flying saucers. Ghost cows. Flying pigs. Still shaking my head in disbelief. Still laughing. Here’s my favorite page. KAKAKAK KAK KAAA! As I said weird. Thought it was great.

INFINITE VACATION #2 – Was just good. Been awhile since the first issue came out. Had no problem picking the story back up. And it is a somewhat involved story. Alternate realities. Alternate versions of our main character Mark. Loved the intro of the big bad CEO at the end. Excellent.

PUNISHERMAX #12 – Picked straight up from last issue and was awesome!

STEVE ROGERS SUPER SOLDIER ANNUAL #1 – Escape from the Negative Zone Part Two. And I’m nominating it again! Different artist on this issue. Can’t use that complaint this time! Thoroughly enjoyed it again. Blastaar. The Negative Zone prison. Hope and Cyclops banter.  Steve Rogers saving the day.  And of course, Namor! Give… me… WATER!  

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #157 & ULTIMATE AVENGERS VS NEW ULTIMATES #3 – Combo nomination as the Death of Spiderman rolls on! Not sure what issue you were supposed to read first but they both ended with the same page… Spidey getting shot and both issues complimented each other very well. Huge Green Goblin/Doc Ock fight in Spider-Man. Huge Ultimate vs. Ultimate fight in Ultimates vs. Ultimates. Gotta love a four-panel page full of four face punches! 

UNCANNY X-MEN #535 – Enjoyed the "Quarantine" arc. Enjoyed Fraction on Uncanny. Kieron Gillen takes over the writing chores for the foreseeable future with this issue. Excellent start. Love that it’s about Kitty Pryde and her bullet. Love that it brings back the Breakworld from Josh Whedon’s Astonishing run. Liked the twist at the end. And for the first time ever I actually got Nemesis. And one page is all it took.

UNWRITTEN #24 – A fantastic stand alone one shot. A hare, badger and raccoon are leading a group of animal refugees up a staircase of indefinite but very great extent to reach a “golden door.” Epic battles. Heroic deaths. And furry animals cussin’ up a storm. Gonna be one of the best single issues of the year! Loved it!

X-MEN LEGACY #247 AGEX – Explanations. Explanations. Explanations. And the Age of X rolls on nicely!
